Ronald Lee (born 1934) is a Romani Canadian writer, linguist and activist. ==Early life and education== Lee's father was a Kalderash musician from Europe. He immigrated to Canada where he married. He took his wife's surname of Lee. Ronald Lee was born in Montreal. In 1939 his family took him to Great Britain on a visit. They were unable to return to Canada for several years because of the outbreak of World War II. The Lees returned to Canada in 1945. He worked during the summer with his uncle for the fairs and amusement parks. In the fall, winter, and spring seasons, he attended night school in Montreal in the 1950s and 1960s. When Lee was 18, he started to travel with a Kalderash family from Europe.
